Yamanashi Gakuin University (YGU)
Yamanashi Gakuin was founded in 1946 in the city of Kofu, Yamanashi Prefecture. It is an integrated academic institution with an affiliated kindergarten, elementary school, junior high school, senior high school, junior college, university, and graduate school. Together these boast a combined enrollment of about 6,100 students.

Yamanashi Gakuin University (YGU) has developed a variety of educational programs. It is a unique institution that offers a free and open environment and strong student support services to enable students to challenge themselves in accordance with their interests.
The university puts a great deal of effort into sports promotion, and contributes significantly to the development of Japanese athletics and to improving Japan’s international competitiveness. Our 13 special training clubs have demonstrated amazing results at world championships and national competitions, and the university has produced many Olympic athletes.
Yamanashi is a neighboring prefecture of Tokyo and is easily accessible from the metropolitan area.
Yamanashi is endowed with rich nature, famous for beautiful mountains like Mt. Fuji which was registered as the World Heritage in 2013 by UNESCO.
Yamanashi offers the pleasures of eating with such fruit as grapes which we boast the largest production in Japan, cherries, and peaches and fresh and rich-flavored vegetables and wild vegetables.
Skiing, mountain trekking, unique hot springs, wineries, and visiting many historical temples and shrines can be enjoyed in Yamanashi.
Kofu-city was founded in 1519. The city’s population is 193.727.(2014/Sep.) The warmest month is August, with an average of this month’s maximum temperature is 35℃, the coldest one is -3℃ in January. The shape of Kofu-city is like a crescent moon and it is famous for gem cutting and processing.
